Showtime: Your Show, Your Time. It's Showtime!
Showtime is a cool entertainment show to watch in the morning. It's a refreshing diversion from the usual celebrity performances we see hourly on TV, especially that they can do just about anything in this kapamilya show. The concept is not too new since we get to see Talentadong Pinoy in TV5 and Britain Got Talent.
The disadvantage in this show is stamped on the contestants actually. According to my two-day observation, the comic and funny the performance is the better the score you get from the judges. But, if the group is doing a serious dance or song performace, they have got to be doing it really great in choreography and costumes where theycan make the judges jaw drop or their facial expression impressed enough, if not immensely. Otherwise they will just get the mediocre comment ang grade, not to mention the outrageous bashing of Vice Ganda.
The design and set up of the stage is not so great. I find it too bland and it the total appeal. In other words, the set up of the stage doesn't give much impact to our viewing experience. The audience layout has some good touches but still lacks a little bit of organization, unlike the one we see in Wowowee, ASAP and 1 versus 100.
I alos don't like the set of judges. Amy Perez and Rico J. Puno are both toos serious judges. One one should be there. Who the heck's idea is to include Marc Abaya in the panel of judges? He doesn't have the flair. Ayana should stay for the sole reason that she's sweet. The show needs a sweet judge. And, oh yes! Vice Ganda is a perfect choice. The judges would look seem invisible and worthless without him...err...her. Hosts Anne Curtis and Vhong Navarro are great as usual. I love them!
Showtime is co-hosted by Kuya Kim Atienza and Teddy Casiño of Rocksteady band. Showtime airs Mondays to Saturdays right before Wowowee.
